A long journey from Burleydam to the Moray Firth was productive for supersub Will Atkins when he sat with John Wink in his Hyundai 120 r5 for the Speyside Stages in Elgin in February.
Seeded 5th, a good push on Saturdays stages moved them up from 7th over night to 3rd overall by ss7, which they managed to hold on to for the rest of the rally. It was a close challenge for 3rd place, and ultimately Will and John finished 1 second ahead of 4th to grab a podium place!
Final result 3rd overall, 2nd in class

Crashing out at Cadwell
Next event: CAR SHOW JULY 14TH

Peter Taylor started the Alan Healey Memorial rally at Cadwell Park in Februaryu seeded at 51.
His day was cut short in stage 6, as he explains.
The car was still in development but had good brakes and a full 8000rpm. It continually balked on the early stages, but we managed to post some reasonable times in Class 3.
On stage 4 we took fastest in class and 16th overall, and continued to post some respectable times. But on stage 6 we collected a tyre that had been thrown into the track by a previous car. This wedged under the car and prevented me from making the next corner resulting in a hefty blow to the passengers side, damaging the front and side of the car excessively and also shearing off two bolts from the subframe and bending it.
On returning to the service area my engineer said not to proceed any further so we retired whilst lying 22nd overall and 3rd in class.
A sad end to a promising day, but this is only my second rally in my own car since I retired in 1982, so quite pleased with my speed.
Dramatic Dukeries

Drama at the Dukeries
Nikhil Evans had an eventful day on the Dukeries rally at Donington Park in March.
One mile into the first stage a marshal accidentally let off the fire extinguisher, which should have meant exclusion, but as nobody came to check Nikhil carried on despite a stage max.
The mini was new to Nikhil, and had only done 15 miles prior to the event. On the day the brakes were very spongy, and he could only access 7000 of the 8000rpm available, but as the day wore on they got quicker and quicker, eventually posting stage times around 5th in class.
Final position 51st overall.
